Firms' or freelance rates for custom web development may vary from 10 up to 100+ $/hr (for freelance, mostly falling into $20-$75/hour range) and for the firm where I was working as senior web developer in past for 3 years for instance it was $100/hr if no discount applied. So matter-of-fact, if you look for contract web developer (custom web development) and found them, you had to pay them $100/hr and the person who will do the work was me anyways. Now you can hire professional web developer directly for significantly lower rate even though my skills and experience grew up and wide noticeable since I left senior web developer position in that firm. For my clients, I provide my custom tags, CFC components, javascript functions, PHP classes and functions etc. which are pre-built pieces of functionality refined by years of using in diverse systems. Some of them may take hours and even days of developement but my clients get them for free. I have built Client Billing & Invoicing System / project management edition where clients have secure access to their billling, projects, invoices and payments, can create tasks and leave notes related to paticular billing records, tasks and projects, view and print invoices and payments, get statement by period and more. In addition, I provide my ColdFusion Server Monitoring utility for free for all my clients' coldfusion servers. (As you may know, generic web server monitoring does not indicate whether coldfusion service is up or not). I don't require prepay me until customer is satisfied by the work I did. By surfing the net, you can find some offers to work starting even at $5/hr but I believe such offers are from juniors/beginners web developers looking for a telecommute job and not absolutely true, but you risk to waste your time and money by trying to work with them. (Basing on my experience in seeking appropriate hosting providers for my clients, I can say the same about web hosting providers - avoid to deal with too cheap ones.) Some useful info on contract web developers' hourly rates to check and compare published as survey results can be found at Dice.com. | |||||||||||||||||||||
